Use the assignment editor to build an assignment and send it to your classes.
Open the editor
- Click Content in the left bar, then Classwork.
- To start a new assignment, click Add to course and choose New assignment. Podsie creates a draft called "Untitled assignment" and opens it in the editor.
- To reopen a draft, click it in the unit list. To edit an assignment you already published, open it and click Edit at the top of its page.
The parts of the editor
- Title. Click the title and type. It saves as you type.
- Badges. The first badge shows the classwork type. The second shows Draft or Published.
- Publish. Sends the assignment to the classes you pick. The button is grey until the assignment has what it needs to publish.
- Assignment Settings. A summary of the classes and the attempt limit. Edit settings opens the full settings.
- Questions. One card per question, in the order students see them.
Add questions
Click Add question and pick one of three options.
- Write yourself adds a blank question card that you fill in.
- Generate with AI opens the assistant, which drafts questions for you. Each draft shows on a card until you click Accept or Discard.
- Question bank copies questions that you or your team already wrote.
Write a question
- Pick a Question type. Multiple choice is the default.
- Type the Question.
- Fill in the Answer choices. Click Add choice for more. Select the circle next to the correct answer.
- Add an Explanation if you want students to see why the answer is correct.
- Click Save question. The card shows "Saved" when it is done.
The card has three views in its top right corner. Overview shows a compact summary. Edit opens the form. Preview shows the question as a student sees it. Podsie shuffles the answer choices for each student, so the order in the preview can differ from the order you typed.
To move a question, drag the handle at the top of the card. To copy or remove a question, open the card's ⋮ menu and choose Duplicate or Delete.
Publish
Click Publish or Edit settings to open the publish settings.
- Under Classes & dates, tick each class that should get the assignment. A Start date and Due date appear for each class you tick. The due date is required. Leave the start date blank and students can open the assignment as soon as you publish.
- Under Assignment settings, set Max attempts per question. The default is 3. Choose Unlimited if students should keep trying until they get it right.
- Click Publish.
Save and close keeps your settings without publishing.
If Publish is grey, hover over it to see what is missing. Podsie publishes only when the assignment has at least one question, at least one class, and a future due date for every class.
Change a published assignment
You can keep editing after you publish. Students see the version you last published. After an edit, a banner appears and the Publish button changes to Publish changes.
Click Publish changes to send the update. When students have the latest version, the button reads "Already published" on hover.
Copy or delete an assignment
Open the ⋮ menu next to Publish.
- Duplicate makes a new draft with the same questions and settings. Its title ends in "(Copy)".
- Delete assignment removes it. Podsie asks you to confirm first.
