Personal Deck Overview
Big picture of Personal Deck —Podise’s most important feature
The Personal Deck is Podsie's most important feature. Here's how it works:
- Each student has their own Personal Deck.
- When students complete an assignment, by default, all the questions from that assignment are inserted into their Personal Deck.
- Then, based on how students previously performed on each question, the Personal Deck will determine when the student needs to review that question again.
- As a result, each student will get a personalized review experience based on their prior performance.
Here’s how the Personal Deck is explained to students on the student side: 1.) Any questions you complete in an Assignment will go into your Personal Deck. 2.) The questions that you miss more will show up more frequently in your Personal Deck. 3.) The more you get a question correct in a row, the less that question will show up in your Personal Deck.
What do I do when students have Personal Deck questions due?
When it comes to the Personal Deck, consistent review is key! 🔑
There are two ways to encourage consistent Personal Deck review:
- You can simply give them some time (e.g. start or end of class) to work on whatever questions are currently due in their Personal Deck.
- If your students need more structure/accountability, consider assigning them a special type of assignment called the Personal Deck Assignment. In these assignments, students earn points by reviewing their Personal Decks consistently.
If your students start building up high Personal Deck counts, don’t despair! This is quite common when using spaced retrieval practice in a classrooms setting. Check out this article to learn more about how to deal with this.
