Personal Deck Study Sessions

What are they? How do you configure them to suit your student’s needs?

A Personal Deck Study Session is simply a way to break up Personal Deck questions into smaller chunks. For example, imagine your student has 100 questions due for review. Rather than reviewing all 100 at a time, Podsie breaks the review up into smaller sessions. Let’s walk through an example below!

Whenever a student starts studying their Personal Decks, they start a Personal Deck Study Session:

By default, a Study Session is a maximum of 20 questions (the section below describes how you can change this setting). In the example above, there are 32 questions currently due in the personal deck. If a student starts a Study Session, then only the first 20 questions will be pulled into the session:

In this case, the student would not see the other remaining 12 questions until the student is done with the 20 questions in the current Study Session.

💡
For the example above, the session is complete when students have finished with all 20 questions. If the student were working on a Personal Deck Assignment, then they would get 1 point (for first session of the day) once that session is complete.

Can I change the ‘max number of questions’ per study session?

Yes! To do this, go to the “Personal Deck” section of the “Settings” page:

Once there, you can adjust the max number of questions per study session. For example, let’s say that for your Personal Deck Assignments, you want students to only need to complete 10 questions to earn a point for completing a personal deck study session. In that case, you would adjust the max number here from 20 to to 10:

💡
IMPORTANT: Please note that changing a max number will not affect existing personal deck study sessions. For example, if a student has already started a personal deck study session that had a max of 20 questions, then changing the setting will not alter the length of the existing study session. However, all future study sessions will reflect the updated setting!
