Create Free Response Question

Experimental feature that uses AI to generate free response questions based off of pasted text

This experimental feature on Podsie allows teachers to paste in text, and then uses AI to generate questions based on that text. For now, this question only supports creating Free Response Questions.

If you have any feedback at all about this feature, we’d love to hear from you! Please email us at hello@podsie.org.

High-level overview of how to use this feature:

  1. Paste in text to the input box.
  1. Review generated questions by:
    1. Editing generated questions
    2. Adding custom questions to the end of the generated questions list
  1. Select the questions that you’d like to add to your assignment.
  1. Finally, review and edit each of the selected questions in more detail before adding it to your assignment.

Limitations of this experimental feature (IMPORTANT)

  1. Suggested questions and answers ARE NOT guaranteed to be accurate. Please review AI-generated content in detail before adding it to your assignments.
  1. Suggested questions and answers may be cut off. Because Podsie pays for this external service letter based on the number of characters in the explanation, we’ve set a limit to the length of the explanation that gets returned. In the future, we may remove this limit, but for now, we’ve implemented it so that our bill does not get prohibitively high 😅.
  1. The external AI service cannot process images, so if you add an image to a question, then the suggested answer be based ONLY on the question text, and not the image(s).
  1. The external AI service is fairly new, so it faces occasional outages. In the event of outages, the Podsie simply has to wait for the external AI service to resolve issues on their end.
